Meridian, Washington is near of Forks, Washington where it faces the Pacific Ocean. Facing the south of Forks, about 4 hours away to be exact. The beaches are cold during the winter but the brave solders that are known, as the local surfers will throw themselves towards it. It is not that far of a drive (maybe 10 hours, 14- depending) of Seattle, Washington but it’s closer to Tacoma.
It’s an upcoming town, known for it’s fresh fishing; it’s granola like way of living. Although there is a Starbucks, a Wal-mart is kind of hard to find. Most people find it the perfect place to raise kids.
But don’t think it’s exactly ‘small town’. Meridian is known for it’s posh record shops (locally known Pet Sounds which has been around for years) and the up and coming cleverly known ‘The Record Shop’. Jitterbug the local coffee shop that rivals Starbucks- for if you’re in Washington, there has to be one. It holds a variety of shops, mostly locally owned. The community as a whole stands firm and very apart of Washington. But as any up and coming town it’s had a boom of youngsters, either moving across the country to discover the place or born and rose near or in Meridian.
Some reasons for Washington not having state taxes taken out of checks, for better education system and public health-care. Other can be because it accepts everyone or any background or culture.
It’s one of those places that if you wanted to reinvent yourself or discover who you are, it’s the place to come.

Ol' Smokey [Rainn, Football Players, Cheerleaders] « Thread Started on Jun 7, 2008, 2:34pm »
Nick was cutting through the practice field, despite the football team being out there. Hands in his pockets and the eternal cigarette in his mouth he plodded along the sideline entirely to close to the live practice.
One of the quarterbacks that was throwing long passes for a few of the receivers overthrew a freshman to make him run it out and when he didn't come up with it yelled to him.
C'mon. . even Ol' Smokey there could have caught that one!
He turned and a few of the other players laughed, then Jeff Halloway spoke up.
Who, Ramos? Naaaah. . there's no border patrol or fence to motivate him to run!
That brought a loud roar of laughter from the players. They went to throw another pass, and Nick clenched his hands, then without really thinking about it took off into the field of play. About 12 yards in from the sideline he cut in and jumping, picked off the pass thrown to the wide receiver. He came down ball in hand, and cigarette in mouth
To Jeff.
Yuk it up Chuckles!
Nick continued across the field, ball still in hand. He cut through the cheerleaders, and tossed the ball to none other than Miss Rainn Walker.

Rainn Walker stood with some of the other cheerleaders talking about BeBe's party not paying attention at all to the football players. It wasn't until Nick tossed the ball at her that she even noticed him. Her eyes narrowed and she angrily threw that ball as hard as she could at his head. Some would think she didn't like him for the same reason the football players didn't. The truth was Nick had broken her heart more than anyone ever had just a little over a year ago and he was the one person on the planet she hated more than Bebe.
"No one here cares about your hands Nick." she rolled her eyes. "We all know you only act like this to over compensate for your little penis." It was low she knew but he deserved it. He deserved worse.

Nick ducked at the last second. . .though frankly he'd have rather taken the shot to the face than the one to his pride that followed from Rainn. Nick remembered a year ago all too well, it had solidified his place at Meridian for him. . he was the "substitute guy", but then he and Rainn had very different views on just what had happened. He wanted to apologize for whatever he had done to hurt her, he wanted to say they could start over, but instead he was Nick.
And just how would you know anything about my penis, Miss Walker?
Sounds like guilty conscience. . you better keep a lid on that, I'm sure Shane would hate to find out about that.

He knew how she felt about Shane. He knew Shane was one of her least favorite people and to have him say that only pissed her off more. And as for guilt she had not reason to have guilt. She had given him her whole heart. She had meant every word she had ever said to him. He was the liar.. HE was the Cheater. Not her. "Seriously? That's the best you have."
She was right next to him her voice low and harsh before he would even know what was hitting him. "You like to share you penis quite a bit Nick." It was her jab at him her little jeer to let him know once again that she knew just what he was about. "Girls talk especially when they are left dissatisfied."

Nick would interpret what she said far different than she meant it. But at this point any chance of the two of them having a civil discussion was done. So, he'd just keep playing the game he'd prefected so well. A game he'd learned in a lot of ways to deal with what happened between them
Check my stats, princess. .
You're the only black mark on my record. And even that wasn't a strikeout. . I just didn't get to bat cause someone took their ball and went home!
He turned to the other cheerleaders
Ol' Nick ALWAYS comes to play ladies. . and everybody's a winner!

The sound of the smack came before she even realized her hand was flying across his face. There was a line and he had just crossed it. Her voice raised this time and she didn't care who heard. "Don't you EVER think you EVER had a chance with ME. Don't YOU EVER for a moment THINK I would have given you a real chance. You ARE what you ARE Nick. A loser who can't keep his dick in his pants to save his own life. You were nothing more than a distraction." She turned on her heels and started to stalk away.

The slap had hurt, but not nearly as much as her defintion of him. He knew it was true. He was the distraction, the guy that filled in while girls were mad at boyfriends or pining over that lost love. Since Rainn and he had "had their time" a year ago, he'd know this to be true. For Monica, he filled in between bouts of Ed, for Jude it was her lost love. And for so many other girls he'd been that night or week of fun until it was time to get back to real life.
He rubbed his face.
Damn. . I thought ice was supposed to reduce swelling. . frigid bitch

She stopped, the breath catching in her chest. The tears stung her eyes. He had cut her to the quick and it hurt more than she EVER wanted to admit. She didn't turn to look at him. She just breathed in and out slowly several times before finally saying. "Don't Ever Come Near Me Again." Her words were steady and there was something in her that he would not be able to ignore. "You're just sad Nick... and I'm not letting you blame me for your being pathetic Anymore!"

Nick wouldn't show the hurt. He never did. He killed off the last drag of his cigarette and was quickly in his pocket for another one. The warning on the side caught his attention
