WELCOME
Welcome to Meridian!

Meridian, Washington is near of Forks, Washington where it faces the Pacific Ocean. Facing the south of Forks, about 4 hours away to be exact. The beaches are cold during the winter but the brave solders that are known, as the local surfers will throw themselves towards it. It is not that far of a drive (maybe 10 hours, 14- depending) of Seattle, Washington but it’s closer to Tacoma.

It’s an upcoming town, known for it’s fresh fishing; it’s granola like way of living. Although there is a Starbucks, a Wal-mart is kind of hard to find. Most people find it the perfect place to raise kids.

But don’t think it’s exactly ‘small town’. Meridian is known for it’s posh record shops (locally known Pet Sounds which has been around for years) and the up and coming cleverly known ‘The Record Shop’. Jitterbug the local coffee shop that rivals Starbucks- for if you’re in Washington, there has to be one. It holds a variety of shops, mostly locally owned. The community as a whole stands firm and very apart of Washington. But as any up and coming town it’s had a boom of youngsters, either moving across the country to discover the place or born and rose near or in Meridian.

Some reasons for Washington not having state taxes taken out of checks, for better education system and public health-care. Other can be because it accepts everyone or any background or culture.
It’s one of those places that if you wanted to reinvent yourself or discover who you are, it’s the place to come.

Joint Posting
Breaking the convention of isolated postings and creating a fluid post with maximum interaction

Foreword
One of the inherent flaws in a Play by Post Role Playing Game (pbpRpg) is the isolation of a character's actions due to separate posts. A dialogue or an expression may be un-reacted to, as the sequential reaction of each character varies. A series of posts may jump back and froth with regards to the game time line, creating a 'chopped' effect. Joint Posting attempts to break such an effect, and create a fluid environment where series of dialogue, reactions follow a chronological order while creating maximum fun and interaction between players.

What is Joint Posting?
Joint Posting as its name may imply, is the condensation of many posts into one single post. This is not to say that it is 'summarized', but rather, all reactions/dialogues between players are made in one single post. Joint Posting can be done between two people, even up to three or five. Numbers of participants don't matter when it comes to Joint Posting.

How to Joint Post?
Joint Posting is usually done over a Chat Client (Yahoo, MSN messenger, AIM, even mIRC). The participants join a chartroom, and posting commences within the chat client itself, usually, posting with a series of short posts that usually ends with a dialogue.

Example of the Sequential events of Joint Posting:

Jeff: Jeff Halloway fiddled with his tie. His mother had tightened it much too tightly and he felt like he was gagging. If he could have worn his jersey he would have, but his mother would have smacked him. Okay, he thought. This is it. His big chance to ask Charlotte to dance. He breathed out, and then walked towards the Askeland girls who were standing close to the refreshment table. Jeff cleared his throat, and stood next to Charlotte, not in front of her. He coughed again, a little more loudly. "So...” He shuffled, and then stuffed his hands into the pockets of his pressed pants. "Yeah. Dancing huh? Pretty lame...but, uh...you wanna go out? To dance...I mean!" He raised his fist to cover his mouth, then moved his eyes over without moving his whole body to look at her.

Chuck: Charlotte turned her head to look at Jeff to look a little puzzled by Jeff speaking to her. She pressed her lips together not knowing what to say… didn’t he hate nerds? She furrowed her eyebrows to look back at Georgia and look around to see if perhaps he had gotten the wrong girl.

She parted her lips as she spoke just above a whisper, “Me?” she asked him as if confused.

Jeff: Jeff turned slightly, his brows perked up. "Uh, yeah. I mean, ya know. Just to kill time." He shrugged. Charlotte could see him sweating under his arms because he wasn't wearing a coat over his dress shirt. "Yeah...you know." Georgia was now looking at Jeff like he was some kind of foreign object and looked at Charlotte to guage her reaction. "Uh.....ah...."

Notice the fluidity in reaction which is absent in normal postings. Each dialogue is readily responded by each player, which creates a more realistic and dynamic posting environment. The atmosphere of the thread can also be better felt in Joint Posting, because of the tempo of postings one after another.

General Guidelines

There are no hard and fast rules with regards to Joint Posting, and the Administrate encourages the community members to explore the various forms of posting to find their own niche and most importantly have fun. Generally, however, Joint Posting is done when the interaction requires a large amount of dialogue and character interaction.

It is considered poor class, however, to Joint Post between two players when there are more people in the thread. The Joint Post then prevents other players from interacting with the two players, and destroys the dynamic structure of creating a Joint-Post in the first place.

Examples of Joint Posting:

Computer Craziness
A wheel that won't turn.

Afterword

Joint Posting was created for the sole purpose of maximizing fun and interaction. It increases fluidity in posts, and maximizes reaction and interaction. One of the downsides however, is that it is a time-consuming way of posting, and needless to say, all its participants are more or less required to wait for each other to write their replies before responding. As the number of participants in Joint Posting increases, the amount of time needed would increase as well.

Credit is given to Ellai and the NMA team, alterations were done in order to suit the roleplay better.
