WELCOME
Welcome to Meridian!

Meridian, Washington is near of Forks, Washington where it faces the Pacific Ocean. Facing the south of Forks, about 4 hours away to be exact. The beaches are cold during the winter but the brave solders that are known, as the local surfers will throw themselves towards it. It is not that far of a drive (maybe 10 hours, 14- depending) of Seattle, Washington but it’s closer to Tacoma.

It’s an upcoming town, known for it’s fresh fishing; it’s granola like way of living. Although there is a Starbucks, a Wal-mart is kind of hard to find. Most people find it the perfect place to raise kids.

But don’t think it’s exactly ‘small town’. Meridian is known for it’s posh record shops (locally known Pet Sounds which has been around for years) and the up and coming cleverly known ‘The Record Shop’. Jitterbug the local coffee shop that rivals Starbucks- for if you’re in Washington, there has to be one. It holds a variety of shops, mostly locally owned. The community as a whole stands firm and very apart of Washington. But as any up and coming town it’s had a boom of youngsters, either moving across the country to discover the place or born and rose near or in Meridian.

Some reasons for Washington not having state taxes taken out of checks, for better education system and public health-care. Other can be because it accepts everyone or any background or culture.
It’s one of those places that if you wanted to reinvent yourself or discover who you are, it’s the place to come.

Who:Claudia Stoker, Arden Heisler
When: Morning after the party

It wasn't really the biggest deal that it wasn't Arden's brithday for a few weeks, the party had been for her for that even if she had trouble admiting it. And birthday's called for presents and love, even if Arden couldn't see it. So as the party wound down and people started scattering as the light started to come up Claudia snuck into Arden's trailer and into her room. She carried under her arm a complete deck, one that she had seen Arden gazing at wantingly for weeks now. Claudia set it on the hamper, where Arden would most likely stumble on it hungover in some hours from now. She hadn't dreamed of trying to give it to Arden in front of everyone, that simply wouldn't have worked out.

There was a note taped to the top of the deck.

Arden,

First, yes you can and will accept this birthday gift. I know you want it, you know you want it, so just suck it up and let me play a good friend for once in my life. Yes, your stubborn pride plays second to my guilt of having been a horrible person in the before time.

But seriously, it's yours. You give me so much Arden. I don't even know how to start to explain what you've done for me. I think about how I could have been if I had friends like you and Sarah from the start, how better of a person I would be. So let me give you something, okay.

And if it makes you feel better you can pay me back 50-80 percent (hey, I have to be able to give you some of it at least) when you're a rich and famous skateboarder.

Happy Birthday.

Claud.

..i wouldn’t act indifferent if I didn’t give a damn..

She had fallen asleep on her favorite picnic table, arms outstretched to study the stars as her drunken vision made them swirl in the most interesting patterns. It had been a heavy night, usually she stopped at a buzz, but between Tim’s flirting and well, everything, it had been a surprisingly eventful evening.

Next year, she was just going to Vegas do lines of pixie sticks off a hooker’s ass, it would be less painful, and less degrading than being Tim’s pretend girlfriend.

Of course that was ridiculous, she couldn’t afford the trip to Vegas. Cadence would probably happily let her snort sugar off her ass though. Cadence was a seriously weird roomate. Not that it mattered, that idea was just weird, and unnaceptable and so…ew. All the same, it would be better and less upsetting than having Tim being captain oblivious idiot. Arden reached up to the neckalace that he’d given her, and for a brief moment she wanted to rip it off and throw it in the bushes.

After a long sigh, she knew she wouldn’t do that. Tim was her friend first, and that would hurt his feelings. He was just a guy, there were tons of them, he just happened to be the only good one who looked her way. The feelings were ones of circumstance not real attraction…different world’s, all of that.

Her head felt fuzzy and her neck was in a million knots because well, frankly, she’d slept on a freaking picnic table.

Walking back to her trailer, she noticed that her boots were on the wrong feet and found herself honestly mystified as to how that had occurred. Unable to recall the answer, she pushed open the door, tripping a bit as she did and stripping as she made her way to her cramped bedroom.

It wasn’t until she was lying naked in her bed that Arden noticed the deck. Biting her lip nervously, clad only in thigh high rainbow stockings, matching knickers and a black sports bra, she opened the letter and blinked back tears while she read it.

Arden had originally moved to Meridian because she’d heard a rumor from one of her mom’s old friends that her real dad lived in Washington. The rumor had turned out to be a bust, but it had been one of the luckiest breaks in her life. At sixteen, she was just starting to learn what it meant to have real friends.

Her fingers ran over the deck lovingly, though her eyes remained fixed on the words Claudia had left her, even careful not to do it in public where Arden would have felt awkward. Casting a sidelong glance at her new deck, she lay back down, glad no one could see her crying like some kind of sissy.

When she fell asleep it was with a smile on her face, Claudia’s letter still in hand.
